Quartermaster Museum Mobile Scavenger Hunt

The Quartermaster Museum is excited to announce a new program where visitors can "connect" with history through their personal cellular devices. Developed with SCVNGR, a company who specializes in mobile game applications, users can answer questions that are sent to their phones based on information found within the museum's exhibits. Points are added up where users can unlock challenges as they play and compare scores with other users. This program utilizes social media,mobile gaming,and education in order to offer visitors a fun and engaging way to learn about the rich history of the Quartermaster Corps. Have fun playing!

HOW TO PLAY SCVNGR:

There are two ways to play SCVNGR. Smartphone users can download the SCVNGR app from the iTunes Store (Click Here) or Android Market (Click Here) for free. SCVNGR is a location-based game, so you must be in the museum to play.

Standard data and texting rates apply.

Earn points and collect badges and rewards by successfully completing your Treks!

Via Smartphone

• Download and install the free SCVNGR application (app) on your smartphone.

• Now register with SCVNGR. Registration requires providing SCVNGR information, including your name, a valid   email address and agreement to the SCVNGR Terms of Service. Players can also register via Facebook.

• Once you've downloaded the SCVNGR app, launch it and select "Treks" from the main menu.
  The Quartermaster Museum treks will be in "My Treks" or "Nearby Treks."

• Select the Trek you want to play.

• Select Quartermaster Museum under the "Places" tab.

• You will see a list of "challenges." Scroll to the bottom of the list to see the first
  challenge on the Trek.

• Once you have answered a challenge, use the "back" button to return to the list of
  challenges. Then you may select your challenges in any order.

• You will see a list of "challenges." Scroll to the bottom of the list to see the first
  challenge on the Trek.

• To help you find your way, gallery names are in every challenge.

Via Texting (SMS)

Users with SMS-enabled cell phones can also play SCVNGR.

• Simply text “qm” to 728647 to get started.

• You'll receive a series of messages with instructions on what to do. If you want to end the game before you finish   the Trek, simply text the word "Quit" to the same number.

• If a message asks for a photo to be taken, text the "Done" after you send the photo to advance.

• If you would like to start another Trek, text “qmtrek2” to 728647.
